Professional Profile

Mr Khaled Hamdan graduated from Southampton Medical School and was trained in his speciality at major teaching hospitals in the UK. Before his consultant appointment he undertook two surgical Fellowships; the first in Upper gastrointestinal surgery in Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth; and the second was awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in bariatric surgery and minimally invasive UGI cancer resection.

Mr Hamdan is a general surgeon with specialist interest in upper gastrointestinal, laparoscopic and bariatric surgery. He was appointed as a consultant surgeon at Brighton and Sussex University NHS Hospitals and as an honorary consultant surgeon at Worthing Hospital in 2009. Mr Hamdan is also an honorary clinical senior lecture at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and is the lead for research for general surgery at the digestive diseases unit at The Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Mr Hamdan performs weight loss surgery, including laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, gastric bypass surgery and gastric balloon insertion. He has extensive experience in a wide range of advanced laparoscopic procedures including antireflux and hiatus hernia surgery, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, open and laparoscopic hernia repair and open and laparoscopic resection of cancers of the stomach and oesophagus.
