Gynaecomastia (male breast reduction)
Male breast reduction surgery, also known as Gynaecomastia, is performed in Brighton and Hove at The Montefiore Hospital. It is used to remove excess breast tissue, fat and sagging skin that leads to the appearance of 'male breasts'.
Gynaecomastia, the presence of excess breast tissue in men, can occur for a number of reasons. This can include weight loss which has left sagging skin, the natural aging process and excess tissue which developed during puberty. Following male breast reduction surgery in Brighton, you should expect a flatter, firmer and more masculine chest.
This operation which generally takes around 90 minutes sees excess fat, glandular tissue and skin removed through incisions under your arm or around your nipple whilst under general anaesthetic. Usually Gynaecomastia is a day case so you will be able to return home the same day, however occasionally it can result in a stay in hospital for one to two nights. You will also need to plan time off work for recovery.
