Anaesthetic Nurse/ODP

Our Vacancy

Exciting opportunities for a full time Anaesthetic Nurse/ODP has arisen within the theatre department at The Montefiore Hospital. We are looking for experienced, motivated and enthusiastic staff who have at least 12 months experience within a theatre environment.

The successful candidates will form part of our expanding team, and will be expected to provide and maintain a high quality service. We can offer support from a strong management team, the opportunity to work alongside expert clinicians, access to professional and personal development and experience within a dynamic working environment.

The successful applicant will hold the following:

  • Registered Nurse/ODP Diploma/Degree and current NMC/HPC registration.
  • Experience of orthopaedic and/or laparoscopic, general, urology, gynae and plastics procedures ideal .
  • ILS qualification desirable but not essential.
  • Flexibility with shift patterns, on call rota and weekend work is essential.

Undertaking a wide range of surgical specialities, this position presents an opportunity to broaden skills whilst working in a modern and state of the art environment with a friendly, enthusiastic team.

Theatre Clinical Coordinator

An exciting opportunity for a full time Clinical Coordinator has arisen within the theatre department at The Montefiore Hospital. We are looking for experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Nurses/ODPs who have at least 2 years’ experience within a theatre environment and possess a high level of orthopaedic knowledge and skill.

The successful candidates will form part of our expanding team, and will be expected to provide and maintain a high quality service. We can offer support from a strong management team, the opportunity to work alongside expert clinicians, access to professional and personal development and experience within a dynamic working environment.

The successful applicant will require the following personal attributes and qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse/ODP Diploma/Degree and current NMC/HPC registration.
  • High level of orthopaedic experience essential.
  • ILS/ALS qualification desirable.
  • Mentorship qualification desirable but not essential.
  • Flexibility with shift patterns, on call rota and weekend work is essential.
  • Excellent and effective communication skills essential.
  • Organised and methodical individual with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work in stressful situations.
  • Willingness to be flexible with daily tasks and ability to learn new skills.
  • Able to forward plan weekly requirements.
  • Ability to challenge consultants’ performance, behaviour and punctuality.
  • Driven and focused with a passion for ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • A good understanding of national standards including; AfPP Standards, NHS England’s National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (NatSSIPs), Clinical Governance processes and structure and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Ensuring smooth running of the department’s clinical activities reporting directly to the Theatre Manager. Overseeing theatre staffing, list overruns, lunch breaks, ensuring prompt session start times.
  • Management of daily staffing requirements dealing with any sick leave and staff changes whilst ensuring accordance with AfPP safe staffing guidelines.
  • Conducting the daily 7.30am morning hug ensuring all theatre team members present and audit of the same.
  • Management of the loan kit/equipment process identifying the needs of the department and upcoming theatre lists.
  • Production and distribution of the daily theatre lists reviewing TCI times, impacts on other departments (ie. SSD, Ward, DCU, recovery), reviewing list orders and operational requirements (ie. Bed status, extended recovery unit requirements).
  • Dealing with theatre session requests from consultants and medical secretaries
  • Escalation of any issues to the appropriate person ie. Theatre Manager, Matron.
  • Maintenance of daily theatre KPIs and staffing budgets.
