Professional Profile

Mr Faz Pakarian is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Urogynaecologist with over 10 years’ experience at consultant level.

Mr Pakarian was educated in London before commencing his medical studies at Leicester Medical School. He graduated in 1988 in medicine and surgery (MB ChB) and continued his training in London to become a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 1997. He was recently made a fellow (FRCOG) at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Mr Pakarian trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in London (St. Thomas’ Hospital) and the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. He has published articles in journals and was awarded a MD thesis by Leicester Medical School in 1998.

Mr Pakarian has a special interest in pelvic floor surgery, incontinence and minimal access surgery. He uses the latest techniques based on clinical evidence, research and experience. He regularly sees patients from outside this region.

He is also an accredited Colposcopist with the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and the Lead Colposcopist at Worthing NHS Hospital.

Mr Faz Pakarian has received recent press coverage (Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph) for his management of women with heavy, painful periods and incontinence. He has also written for Embarrassing Bodies, the Channel 4 television programme.

Financial Interests/Shares

Mr Faz Pakarian owns 100% of the Sonosite M-Turbo® ultrasound system equipment he uses.

Mr Pakarian is currently Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee at The Montefiore Hospital. Their role is to provide senior professional advice to the Hospital Director and Director of Clinical Services in order to support effective medical governance and oversight. They are paid £14,000 per annum for this role and are also entitled to receive the following fees for the provision of additional ad hoc services: (i) £750 for chairing a Professional Review Committee; (ii) £500 for each annual medical appraisal undertaken for a doctor designating to Spire for the purposes of revalidation; and (iii) £200 per hour for the preparation of an independent report (up to a maximum of £500 per report) upon request by the Medical Director or Chief Medical Officer.
