Professional Profile
Dr Panos Koumellis is a Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist at Hurstwood Park Neurosciences Centre.
His early postgraduate training was in Medicine. He spent 6 years training in General Radiology and Neuroradiology in Nottingham. Dr Koumellis gained further experience with a fellowship in Vancouver BC in Neuroradiology and at the same time completed an MSc in Neuroimaging from the University of Edinburgh.
Dr Koumellis leads the Neurointerventional service at Hurstwood Park and has introduced a number of minimally invasive techniques for treatment of diseases of the brain and spine. His main interest is treating intracerebral aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations. He has performed hundreds of image guided spinal injections.
His expertise include CT, MRI and angiography of the neuraxis and their use in Neurology, tumour imaging, degenerative spinal disease and stroke.
