Professional Profile
He has a special interest in the use of a minimally invasive approach to the management of both arterial and venous disease and is internationally recognised for his pioneering work in endovascular aneurysm surgery. He was awarded a Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999 and a visiting Professorship to the MD Anderson Hospital Houston USA in 2006. He has edited two books, has over 70 publications on Vascular and Endovascular surgery and a reviewer for several medical journals. He was the Tutor in Vascular Surgery (2006-2009) at the Ravens Department of Education, Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He played a pioneering role in the development of endovascular aortic aneurysm repair. According to the recently published surgeon specific outcome he has one of the best outcomes for aortic aneurysm surgery in the UK. He has an interest in quality improvement and has contributed to the national frameworks on quality improvement frameworks on aortic aneurysm repair and amputations. He is a past chairman of the British Medical Association Brighton Division and is the honorary Treasurer of the Sussex Stroke & Circulation Charity Fund.
