Dr Nigel Marchbank trained at Guy’s Hospital, qualifying in 1987.
After junior posts in Brighton, Birmingham and Worcester he started Radiology training on the St George’s Hospital rotation in London in 1991. He trained at many centres of excellence including the Royal Marsden Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital.
Dr Marchbank was appointed as a Consultant in 1997, and moved his practice to Brighton in 2008.
As well as leading the Chest Imaging department, he is also heavily involved in providing Imaging support to patients in many Cancer Research trials.
He is also Director of the Sussex Tumour Ablation Centre.
In April 2003, he was appointed as Medical Director of the Sussex Cancer Network, an organisation that coordinates planning and delivery of cancer services across Sussex.
He sits on many committees including the Cancer Advisory Board, responsible for planning and delivering cancer services nationally. In 2008, he was an advisor to the Swedish government when they wrote their Cancer Plan.
Outside work, Dr Marchbank is a keen tennis player and golfer (Handicap 14 but moving in the wrong direction). He enjoys watching football and rugby, plays the piano, enjoys mountain biking and is a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Society.
