Our new private clinic is for self-pay patients who may have concerns about their lung health run by our Consultant in Respiratory Medicine, Dr Sarah Doffman and Consultant Radiologists, Dr Nigel Marchbank and Dr Charlie Sayer. Screening means testing people for early stages of a disease, before they have any symptoms. Lung cancer screening uses a CT scan to detect ‘spots’ (nodules) in the lungs which could represent early lung cancer.
Screening is most useful for people who are at increased risk of developing lung cancer, usually current or prior smokers. It has also been identified as being very important in people who have stopped smoking within the last 15 years. Patients with a family member who has been diagnosed with lung cancer may also benefit from CT screening.
The clinic aims to offer you the highest standard of care by minimising your apprehension and providing an expert assessment, consultation and investigation in one appointment.
This will be followed by a follow-up consultation with the consultant to discuss your results and recommend your next steps going forward if needed.
