Cakes of all shapes, sizes and flavours were on the menu at the Montefiore on Friday, September 24 when patients and members of staff gathered for the hospital’s Macmillan Bake-Off and Coffee Morning. 

The event was part of a national initiative to raise awareness and funds for Macmillan, the charity that provides nursing and support for cancer patients and their families.

The Montefiore’s coffee morning was attended by some 50 people who made a donation in return for coffee and cake. Volunteers from the hospital made cakes and decorated the reception area with bunting and material that explained the invaluable support Macmillan provides to the two million people living with cancer in the UK. 

Rachel Dixon, Managing Director of the Montefiore said: “As a provider of care to people with cancer, we understand only too well the importance of the support Macmillan gives to cancer patients and their families. I’m delighted that we took part in this fantastic fundraising event and would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to make it such a success. We raised some £500 which will go directly to helping the people who need it the most.”
