Celebrating a 50 year career!

Jo (Joanna) Bond is retiring from her position as a Senior MRI Radiographer at the Montefiore Hospital in Hove, East Sussex. Jo is a highly regarded and experienced Radiographer who has been working in medical imaging for over 50 years. Jo is a lifelong learner who has, in the past 5 years, been studying and developing her practice in cardiac MRI as well as working in plain film Radiography and as a Radiation Protection Supervisor.
Before training as a Radiographer Jo worked in an X-ray darkroom. She trained in the Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital and qualified as a Radiographer in 1973. Jo went on to work at the Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital 1973-1980 rising to Senior II Radiographer. As well as working in the main Orthopaedic hospital the role at that time included covering 3 satellite hospitals: the Whitley Hospital, the Paybody hospital and the Gulson Hospital. Jo worked in various NHS Senior Radiography roles in Warwickshire, balancing motherhood and career and eventually moving to East Sussex in 2003.
In East Sussex Jo worked for Alliance Medical as a Unit Manager before taking on the role of Diagnostic Imaging manager at the new Montefiore Hospital where she set up the diagnostic imaging department from scratch. In 2017 Jo “stepped back” to work as a Senior MRI Radiographer at the Montefiore Hospital, a role which she continued to enjoy up to retirement.
Jo’s range of interests, energy and enthusiasm for all aspects of life are remarkable. Jo has been an inspiration to many colleagues and she has cared for countless patients over the years.
Jo will be missed by all the people she has worked with and we wish her a long, happy, active and healthy retirement.
