Lynette Awdry, now our Cancer Service Manager, shares with us one of her most vivid memories from a time when The Montefiore wasn't yet a hospital!

"Standing in main reception on a rainy dark afternoon with the Hospital Director when he said “ This is your hospital “ 150 builders on site, rain leaking through, looking up to what is now the theatre floor as the ceilings had been removed and thinking…how am I going to turn this building into a hospital !!!!

Then an over riding feeling that this was my destiny, to put a heart into the building and make the Monty come alive."
