Cancer care at The Montefiore Hospital

Early diagnosis is crucial for the successful treatment of cancer. Our highly specialised radiographers and consultant radiologists use a range of equipment to help them make fast and accurate diagnoses. We also provide a full range of blood and tissue sample analyses to aid in diagnosis.

It is important to us that you feel safe, confident and reassured every step of the way. Our highly skilled teams of surgeons, oncologists and specialist support staff work together to deliver seamless treatment and care. They will make sure you are looked after from the moment of your diagnosis and throughout your treatment and aftercare.

You can contact your team any time if you have the slightest worry.

You will be seen by the same consultant throughout each stage of your treatment to ensure continuity of care. You will also have access to dedicated nurses working within the team to give you specialist care, support and expertise if you need it.

Our oncology teams liaise with Macmillan Cancer Support and your GP to offer support both in hospital and at home. The oncology and ward nursing teams are available twenty-four hours a day to answer your questions, and will involve your consultant whenever necessary to provide additional advice and information on your treatment. You will be given a list of telephone numbers when you first come to hospital, so that you and your family can contact the team at any time of the day or night if you have the slightest worry.

Our concern for your health and wellbeing does not end when your treatment finishes. We work closely with organisations such as Macmillan Cancer Support to ensure you have access to an extended range of information, nursing and support following treatment.
