Skin Cancer Screening and Mole Mapping Clinic

Comprehensive skin cancer screening and mole mapping

Our Skin Cancer Screening and Mole Mapping is a new private service at The Montefiore Hospital, run by Dr Paul Farrant, Consultant Dermatologist. This service is aimed at anyone with concerns about skin lesions, particularly with changing or irregular moles. Patients who spend a lot of time outdoors, have lived abroad or ever had past skin cancers are recommended to have ongoing surveillance to increase early detection and treatment.

Using cutting edge skin visualisation technology by world market leader Fotofinder®, Dr Farrant is able to track any change of moles over time with highly magnified images, mapped to body locations, allowing easy comparison between visits. Accurate tracking cuts down unnecessary surgery, whilst making sure subtle changes are not missed.

Do I need a referral?

We are happy to see patients without a referral from their GP.

What is involved?

Appointments involve whole body clinical examination and recording of any suspicious lesions that need monitoring.

What happens after?

Following the first session, Dr Farrant will assess how often you should be screened with intervals varying from 3 months to annually.

Reports of the screening are available on request for any patients requiring copies for home monitoring.

Follow-ups are charged at the consultant's usual follow-up rate.
