Professional Profile
Dr Malcolm Johnston is a consultant radiologist at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust.
He is also a senior lecturer and lead for radiology education at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
He trained in radiology at the Royal Free Hospital in London before undertaking a specialist fellowship in Interventional Radiology in Vancouver, Canada.
He has been a consultant since 2005 and is the Regional Clinical Lead for Interventional Radiology with particular interests in vascular, hepatobiliary and uro-intervention. He has recently published research on complex biopsy techniques, vascular intervention and is the lead investigator on fibroid embolization and renal artery stenting trials. He has a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and is on the education committee of the British Society of Intervention Radiology.
Personal Interests
Dr Johnston is a keen musician, playing the violin and piano, and until recently was the conductor of the Hampstead Symphonia and Chorus. He has had a number of orchestral and choral compositions performed. He is a keen mountain biker and golfer, and is a qualified ski instructor.
