Varicose Vein Surgery

The Montefiore Hospital offers a number of treatments for varicose veins. As well as treatments for varicose veins, we offer impartial advice and information on a range of vascular conditions and ailments. Treatment for varicose veins isn't always available on the NHS, but we have a variety of treatments that can help.

Varicose veins are caused by a failure of the valves in the superficial veins. This allows blood to flow in the wrong direction, outwards and down towards the foot. This puts too high a pressure in the superficial veins which stretch, dilate and elongate, in other words become ‘varicose’. Varicose veins should not be ignored. If treated early it is easier to get the legs back to normal. In general, the earlier treatment is carried out, the better the long term result.

The Montefiore Hospital has the facilities and expertise to offer surgical and non-surgical treatments for varicose veins. Our specialists will usually recommend having your veins scanned with an ultrasound machine (typically by a consultant radiologist) to determine the best course of treatment. Once your treatment has been agreed, our team will offer a fixed price quote* for your procedure.
