Professional Profile

Mr Krish Singh completed his basic surgical training on the Norwich rotation and went on to achieve accreditation in his specialist training in Scotland. Early in his career Mr Singh undertook a Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco to further his experience in laparoscopic surgery and later spent a sabbatical at the National Cancer Centre in Tokyo, Japan to gain expertise in upper GI cancer surgery. In 2005 he also spent several weeks at the Osaka University Hospital in Japan, observing and assisting with surgical management of upper GI cancers.

Mr Singh has a passionate interest in teaching and training activities. He has been surgical tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons and Vice Chairman of Basic Surgical Training for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. He has also played a role in the national surgical societies and is currently on the council of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. Mr Singh pioneered the first laparoscopic (keyhole) operations to remove cancers of the stomach in the UK. He has demonstrated his operative techniques widely throughout the UK and overseas and now the majority of these procedures are carried out using the minimally invasive approach. He has written papers on these techniques and presented them at national and international conferences.

He has held the position of Clinical Director for Surgery during the past five years, more recently as Clinical Director for Abdominal Surgery & Medicine at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
