Professional Profile

I qualified from London in 1990, and following completion of my general medical training, have worked in haematology since 1994. I successfully submitted my PhD thesis in 1998, which was looking at developing vaccination strategies for acute myeloid leukaemia. I completed my specialist training in 2002, and worked as a locum consultant haematologist at the Royal Free Hospital in London prior to my substantive appointment in Brighton in September 2003. Since my appointment I have developed the clinical haematology unit to incorporate local care of patients with acute leukaemias, which were previously referred to London. To facilitate local care I have also developed a local clinic to enable follow up for those patients who have undergone allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Previously these patients would have to travel to London weekly. In 2013 I was nominated for Doctor of the year, which I was fortunate enough to win.

Personal Profile

I am married with four children. Out of work I enjoy football, golf and running, and regularly attend Brighton and Hove Albion games at the AMEX stadium.
