Professional profile
Dr Ghalli had his MBBCh Feb 1995. He completed higher Specialist Registrar Training in General Medicine and Nephrology completed at 1999. He then got Master degree in general medicine (subspeciality: Nephrology) in December 1999. His research was evaluating microalbuminuria as a marker of silent myocardial ischaemia in Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus.
He completed his doctorate (MD) thesis in nephrology researching glutathione transferase enzyme as a marker of early renal tubular dysfunction in patients with glomerulonephritis and post - renal transplant. In 2010 he had MRCP(UK) and MRCP Nephrology 2015. During the period between 2012 and 2018 he had second higher nephrology and transplantation training in UK as he worked at the nephrology and renal transplant unit -University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff
He is a consultant nephrologist at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Sussex Renal Unit since March 2018. Dr Ghalli is practicing different aspects of nephrology and dialysis and he has a special interest in immunological renal disease glomerulonephritis and vasculitis and CKD- Mineral bone disease.
He is also a member of CKD-MBD and Glomerulonephritis UK clinical study groups. Has special interest in research, publications and medical education and he is an honorary senior clinical lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He is a lead of clinical skills material development at BSMS, and also a member of the Academy of medical educators.
Was competitively awarded The Best Award in Innovation In education 2015 and nominated for the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Clinical Teacher of the year 2016. also in 2016 he was awarded the leadership in nephrology education award from the Global Kidney Academy (GKA) and received it in Prague March 2017.
He is member in the Advisory Board of Young Nephrologists Platform program of the European Renal Association - European Dialysis and Transplant Association ERA-EDTA .
In 2019 he was awarded Diploma in Transplantation science from Liverpool University and Fellowship of Royal College of physicians London (FRCP)
